TIFFANNEE RUSH
Skyline College

Tiffannee started Skyline College in the Cosmetology Program and obtained her certificate and Cosmetology License. She decided to continue on to earn an Associate Degree for Transfer in Business Administration and transfer to a four-year university in Fall 2021. She has been an EOPS/CARE student for the past 2 years.

Tiffannee is a single parent, her daughter's father, unfortunately, was taken from her family in September 2018. This situation gave her the drive to return to college. She returned to Skyline Spring 2019 and made the Dean’s List that semester, motivating her to continue. She is the caregiver for her 75-year old mother, who had a stroke last year. In early Spring 2020, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and has endured surgeries, several rounds of chemotherapy and planned future surgeries meanwhile remaining a full-time student and on the Dean’s List. She took 19 units in the Spring 2020 semester. In her words,“ I have no room for failure, I will keep pushing hard to graduate. I tell my daughter that knowledge is key, so I have to lead by example. Education is needed in order to obtain a job that pays well. College has been a positive force in my life. It has taken away the negative and created positive. Getting my bachelor's degree will help me on my journey to success.”

Tiffannee’s goal is to own a full-service salon and to form a nonprofit organization. To achieve this, she plans to work for a corporation as a Human Resources Manager or in Marketing once she obtains her bachelor's degree. A job in either area will support her financially to open her businesses, and to gain knowledge on how to run a successful business.
