SANDY NOGAMI

Region IV

SANDY NOGAMI
De Anza College

My name is Sandy Nogami. I am 32 years old working towards my Nursing degree. I am currently working on my prerequisites before I can apply to nursing school. I am a single mother to four kids, ages 14, 12, 10 and eight years old. I work as a caregiver for the elderly around 40 to 45 hours a week. My kids are my motivation to continue school. My oldest son has major medical issues from epilepsy, learning disabilities, seizure disorders and food allergies. Every
day is a struggle, and also more motivation to reach my goals and teach my kids It is never too old to pursue your goals.

Being in the EOPS program has been a great benefit for me and my family. The support I have gotten since day one has been more than I could have imagined. I was in the process of pausing school because I was not able to afford to keep going, EOPS has given me the opportunity to stay in school and guide me in the right direction. The counselors at EOPS really care about the students and make sure we stay on track. Earning this scholarship will benefit
me in many ways. But the main one would be peace of mind. The motivation I have in me is not always enough when I know I can't afford school without having to work full time. In order to reach my goals of becoming a Nurse I will need all the help I can get. Thank you for selecting me as the CCCEOPSA Scholarship recipient.
