Hello, I’m Julio Garcia:

I am honored to be the recipient of the EOPS Scholarship. Thanks to your generous support, I can continue my education and not worry about some of the expenses that come with higher education. Coming from a Hispanic background, I am proud to say that I am the first in my family to attend college. Growing up in a less privileged community has not only affected financial and academic challenges but has also helped me realize the value of a college education.

I would like to thank the EOPS Program for the services provided; they guided me in the right direction. Each semester the program offered book vouchers to help with books that at times I could not afford. I was able to receive guidance from some of the best counselors around. When I think of EOPS, I think of family. Each staff member, from the EOPS Coordinator to the amazing secretaries, are willing to help students in any way possible. It is truly a wonderful program!

With the help of EOPS, I will be graduating in spring 2021 as a dual major in Biological and Physical Science, and Liberal Arts, with hopes of entering the Nursing Program. I would like to thank every staff member for believing in me and helping me on my journey. I couldn’t have done it without the help of EOPS. It is a blessing to be a part of EOPS.
