THERESA ST. JEAN
Region V
As a child, I always knew I wanted to go to college. Unfortunately, life had other plans for me. I moved out when I was 17 and had to grow up pretty fast. I had to make sure I could pay my bills every month in order to survive. I worked two jobs my whole life to make ends meet which left me hardly any time or money to take classes.
I knew that I needed to figure out a way to make it work though and a friend of mine encouraged me to enroll in MJC and told me about the EOP&S program. I am so very grateful to have been accepted into the program, because I believe that they were a huge part of why I am where I am today. I was given monthly counseling visits to keep me on track with my classes, priority registration, and book vouchers that helped pay for books that I could not afford to buy otherwise. I am so grateful for everything the program has given me and especially for my counselor, Shae. She was the one who sent my name over to be considered for this scholarship. I want to say thank you to her and for her continued faith in me throughout the last 2 years. This scholarship money will help me pay for nursing school here at MJC that I was accepted into for this spring of 2021. I am truly honored and grateful to have been chosen.
